Poached Pears

by Paul Fischer

Last weekend I discovered I had some Bartlett pears and most of a bottle of wine in the fridge that needed to get eaten. Both were still good, but wouldn’t be so for long. Immediately I thought of making Poached Pears. I hit the FoodTV site for a recipe, which I used as the basis […]

Help Jared Get His Laptop Repaired for His Birthday

by Paul Fischer

In the grand tradition of the Internet, I’ve started up a fund to right a wrong. Jared Axelrod is one of the most creative people I’ve ever met. He is simply awesome. About a year ago he purchased my old Apple G4 Powerbook from me. I was really excited at the prospect of him being […]

My friend, Greg Seidman, has released his first game for the iPhone. Circuits, is a cool game where you rotate parts on the board trying to form a circuit before time runs out. I’ve been testing the game for months and I really love it. You can find out more about Circuits here. The game is […]

Baby’s Room Painting

by Paul Fischer

Nat came over Saturday and helped Martha and me paint the nursery. We went for primary colors and geometric shapes. It’s bright and happy. We used the Benjamin Moore Aura paint. It has almost no smell, goes on easy, dries quick, and generally only required one coat. It was a joy to work with.

What do you really need for a “newborn starter kit”?

by Paul Fischer

Please comment here and let me know what I should be focusing on for our baby registry. Babies R Us and Target have huge lists of things, and most people on Twitter are saying I don’t really need it. I would appreciate it if you could give us some new parent advice on what we […]

There has been a bit of a debate going on between myself, Christ Lester, and Jared Axelrod. Jared started it all on his Voice of Free Planet X Episode 136: It’s Called A Power Suit For A Reason. And then picked it up again in that week’s feedback Episode 137: Feedback And Forth. Chris Lester […]

WorldCon The Day Before

by Paul Fischer

Didn’t sleep much last night. The Uber suite at the China Trust near the Taiwan airport had rock hard beds. One large solid block of wood with a millimeter of foam on it. Flying into Narita was uneventful, and the train was long time to get to Yokohama. First pass through Tokyo. No sign of […]

Travel So Far

by Paul Fischer

Journey to the airport The cab showed up 15 minutes early and I wasn’t able to have my normal fried egg breakfast. I rattled me so much that I forgot to grab my big camera. I didn’t realize until I got through security at National that I missed it. I am a seasoned traveller. I […]
